Chica 3 with Milton
This is the week for capturing chicas on film. This morning at an ungodly hour but one that at least had sunlight we headed out to the Jockey Club to film Chica 3 in the arena.
The hour was early, the air was relatively cool and the club was swarming with little men and large horses. As we passed through the jockey's enclosure I had this overwhelming urge to shout "Run, Sea Biscuit, Run"! Not saying it was a sane thought just a random one.
As my chicas will tell anyone who will listen I live my life vicariously through celluloid. I fancy myself as somewhat of a film critic, I remember the most inane facts about films and I compare every place we visit to a scene from a movie. Anyway I digress but I felt the need to explain the crazy Sea Biscuit comment!
Back to horse riding. Again I have to say I was impressed with my chica. I could not control so large a creature and stay upright. I have never been at one with 4 legged beasts. Her teacher is a wonderful dame who competed at many events the world over and rubbed shoulders with Pavarotti, Prince Charles and a Maharaja nick named Bubbles! I have seen the photos.
All in all well worth getting up early for and feeling a little freshness in the air.
We came home hungry and I managed to concoct a very impressive stack of crepes garnished with freshly squeezed limes, powdered sugar, black cherries and maracuya juice (passion fruit). Tomorrow it's back to cereal and bananas.

Oh my, that crepe breakfast sounds delicious!
I didn't even realize that chica #2 rode horses!! (And wasn't Seabiscuit the most engrossing book -- and a darn good movie, too?)
I made crepes again this morning with mango no cherries left. Trying to deplete the fruit bowl before we leave. I am addicted ot them. This is a problem with me and recipes. I make and make them until we grow tired of them and then move on to exhausting the next great one.
The girls rode in UK and a little in Texas but being here make sit more affordable. Chica #3 even has hand made boots/jodhpurs/hat looks quite the lady.
