This week turned out to be one of sheer gluttony and over indulgence whilst celebrating my birthday and the advent of the season means an excuse to imbibe is not necessary. My waistline expands along with my capacity to consume and it is only Dec 8th. How long can one keep up the pace? Of course this time of year should be about giving not recieving but with a Dec birthday what's a girl to do? My birthday gifts were all centred around food. Lunch and dinner out on my birthday/lunch Thursday/dinner Fri and Sat with a few books to make me think even more about food. Jamie's Italy/El Arte de Cocina Peruana/ Top 40 Places to eat in Lima (I have been to at least 20 of them) and jars of chutneys and jams. We then ate at Astrid y Gaston which is high up in the top 40 places to eat. The tuna I had with sweet potato/caramelized onions in a sweet soy sauce was superb. I declined dessert!
I go to bed at night and read of funghi, frijoles and fettucini. I think my Christmas book list should consist of books on purging and detox ready for the New Year which also happens to be beach season here so I better start thinking abstinence instead of abundance.

Well, I'm glad that you had a decadent birthday! Lovely birthday cookbooks, too! Are you the foodie goddess in your Lima circle?
Bathing suits. Sigh. I have been trying to be strict with myself, as we will be in the Bahamas soon, but the best I can say is that I am holding the line. Sometimes it seems like that's all you can do.
Sorry I missed your call today; I will try you tomorrow.
xx, Bee
I am especially pleased with the Peruvian cook book as the friend who gave it to me actually did the translastion for it.
I often get calls from friends with recipe/food questions. I may have to start charging. I like the sound of "recipe rescue". I also call folks to let them know when I find exciting items like real cheddar in the shops. I bought 6 lbs today to distribute before it sold out.
Cozzies are a sore point. I fear I may never ever want to wear one here on the beach with all those body licious Latina ladies.
Glad we spoke at last Yodel Ay E E....
