I'm spinning around/Remember the old days/I should be so lucky/Fever/La la la la la anyone any idea what I am wittering on about? We recently took the chicas to see Kylie in concert and here I am singing all those mundane choruses and ruminating over the astronomical ticket prices and if it was all worth it. I think what sticks in my craw is the fact that we were outside in a concrete "area" with plastic garden chairs held together by string! It was a damp evening and only two porta loos to share.I know how little it costs to rent the chairs and whilst I realise Kylie is an entertainer and deserves recompense for her work how much did Sony make from this deal?
I should be happy that Peru has lifted it's taxing on Foreign performers and it means we now get to see a different calibre of artist here. When I saw the bill for the tickets I reckoned that it would have been less to buy a concert ticket in the US and for more salubrious surroundings with flushing toilets!
Was Kylie worth it? Yes and No.
I got a lot out of watching the crowd but did not like seeing the rows of butts teetering on heels on plastic chairs in front of me. Everyone in a 2 mile radius of us was chain smoking and using their cell phones to video Kylie. The audience reminded me of Bette Midler and Liza Minelli concerts. Due to the lovely local accent it sounded like the crowd was chanting for Callie not Kylie. Believe me when I say I am not being critical or judgemental only relaying the facts as I saw and heard them.
Kylie was 1 and 1/2 hrs late starting not unusual here because of awful traffic and no support band. We were cold and damp and ready to dance by the time she came on if only to get the blood flowing.
As I tried to "swing my pants" and "get in the groove" these phrases alone date me. I realised it's all about the costumes and performance with Ms. Kylie, the music is just pop(another aged phrase). How she managed to strut in 5 inch stiletto, thigh high boots is beyond me, so power to her. I also have to note that she and I are in the same age range but she gets kudos for being able to deliver what the "yoof" like and still look trim and fit after all her woes with breast cancer. So I don't begrudge her any monetary gain only the tour organisers who must have creamed it in with only two loos and a couple of hundred plastic chairs which hardly anyone sat on!

I would guess that her recent concert venue in Dubai was quite a different affair!
