Gay Gordons

Evidence of last night lingers. Mainly sore feet and the quiet humming in my head (no not whiskey) of a diddly dee and the counting of eight. We attended a St Andrew's ball which had more Peruvians than Scotsmen but all were willing to whirl their sporrons across the dance floor for the sake of the Gay Gordons! I remember learning this as child and once you remember to reverse on the right count there's no stopping you. Well that is until a bonny lassie twice your size lands her stilleto bang in the middle of an already gammy foot.
I have to say I have never seen anything quite so multicultural as a Peruvian in a kilt dancing salsa with a bunch of "gringos" and eating Haggis with aji added. Our table only had 4 different nationalities in attendance. It was all good fun and I have to say Cracker and I were some what taken aback and a little flattered when asked to lead the group on the dance floor in Strip the Willow. Not because we are on the Professional Scottish Country Dancing circuit. Merely because out of 230 guests we were the only couple to have attended all of the dance practices religously and only one of a few remaining sober couples. I really must research the origin of all these interesting dance names. Gay Gordons/Dashing White Seargent/Strip the Willow/.

Now don't be modest! You and Cracker are not only nearly-natives, but you've also attended many a highland fling in your time.

I am reading West Coast at the moment, and the protagonist is Scottish. I think that you would enjoy it.

I am collecting a list of books for chica 1 to buy and bring over maybe I will add West Coast to the list. It would seem the natives have not lost their touch but I may have lost full use of my left foot. Still in agony from that rapier stiletto and hobbling a bit. We invited the die hard dancers over this week for drinks and a review!
