Return to Base

Back in the land of fog and drizzle and my Texas trip seems so long ago. Managed a daily perambulation on the bayou with L-L and even saw red cardinals and rabbits. Made me feel at one with nature. I even found time to imbibe some culture by viewing the Pompei exhibit and take in a play at the Alley (old ushering haunt). I have to confess to seeing 2 films but not to which ones I saw. As to the farewell with chica 1, it was everything I dreaded it would be and I cried all the way to the airport through the pouring rain( as I predicted). Then things got really bad as I could not check in and was told I was not eligible for travel to Peru with out proof of leaving Peru( all this before I even got there). Well long story/short after many calls and insistance on my part I made it back. I can only surmise that on line check in does not like the variety of paperwork I have and permission to live in various places. Alas the experience did not make me feel as if I were a jet setter. Airports are becoming more loathsome every time I travel and it is only another 2 weeks before I "jet off" again. I try not to think too long and hard about my carbon footprint. I shall instead think of the greater task ahead on how to pack for a month in Europe (with a wedding to attend) and only a 20 kg baggage allowance!
